Breast Enhancement is our specialty

For women who personally feel their breast size is too small, slightly droopy or unusually shaped, cosmetic breast enhancement with implants may be the answer. Breast enhancement can correct a Sally Bowker testimonial photobreast size imbalance and improve their body contouring. Breast implants have been available since the early 1960s. The first implants to come on the market were saline implants. Silicone gel breast implants appeared on the market about 10 years later. Over this period of time, dozens of different types and styles of breast implants have been used. Dr Hodgkinson has been in the industry since the 1970s and has had experience with and seen the evolution of every type of implant.

Dr. Hodgkinson encourages his patients to actively participate in every step of the process. This includes talking about and discussing their desired goal by communicating more specifically about the size they would like their breasts to be, as well as the shape of breast they would find most appealing, how much cleavage they would like to have as well as patient input on nipple position - which can be very important. As no two women are the same, there is no one implant or operation that will suit all women – each and every procedure is created for the patient's needs and desires.

The process begins with you meeting Dr. Hodgkinson and his staff specialists who have years of experience in sizing and assisting women to discuss your desired goals. Dr. Hodgkinson will then create a specific personalised plan that will best achieve your desired results. This process includes choosing the most appropriate size and style of enhancement when considered relative to your body's proportions and chest wall and then selecting the best incision location to attain the look you desire..

Types of Breast Implant

A breast implant is simply a silicone shell that contains either a sterile saltwater solution that occurs naturally in our bodies known as saline or a medical grade silicone gel. Each of these two types of implants have their applications. The saline implant has a more natural feel and moves more freely allowing for a “shimmy effect”. The saline implant also has the advantage of being inserted through a shorter less noticeable incision, including via the umbilicus (belly button). On the other hand, silicone implants are often preferred for women who have bony chest walls or thinner than average skin. Another reason women choose silicone implants is for implant replacement or reconstruction after mastectomy. The differences between the two implants and which would best suit your situation is best discussed with Dr. Hodgkinson and the aesthetic specialists at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic at Double Bay. Dr. Hodgkinson and his team will review, focus on and talk about the best option for you.
